Re: 2wd swing arm changes. What are the differences?

Update: I returned the swing arm for the one IMW-Ural had just sent to the dealer (latest version), it also has the gusset. So now I'm not sure if the one IMW-Ural sent to the dealer was one of their old stock, nor if new ones sent from Russia still come with the gusset or not. It would be nice if a...

Re: Should I trade?

At least with a new one you'd have a warranty so that would help offset any expense related to repair. (especially if you have to pay a dealer). Since you finance, a new one would also be a logical choice as you trade in your paid-off trade-in, plus the $1,500 incentive. If you had a place to work o...

Re: Mt. Washington Auto Road.

Thanks, I took it slow and easy to preserve the delicate Ural. :foilhead:

I can only imagine the fun I would have had back in my SuperMoto racing days (amateur) sliding my then 450SX up to the top. :moto:

.... and now a broken rocker arm. ... You should post your (your mechanics) findings in your 'broke down' thread so those that posted there will know the cause of why you broke down. http://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=49992 This also helps others in the future who would hav...

Re: golly miss (Moly) the grease that is!

Pro Honda Moly Paste M77, around $20 or so and readily available. For the Ural, I only use this on the drive shaft splines and wheel hub splines. I clean the splines of the original grease and apply M77 paste thoroughly with a toothbrush. It's recommended to wear protective disposable gloves as the ...

Re: 2wd swing arm changes. What are the differences?

When something is changed, I question why and how are they relevant to function (durability and strength in this case).

Having the gusset itself is irrelevant, why it was added, then removed, is.

I believe in function over form.

Re: 2wd swing arm changes. What are the differences?

Update: The seller dealer confirmed that I was sent the one they had in inventory (with gusset) and the new one they ordered (without gusset) went into their inventory. This does make sense as far as inventory movement, but I did request the latest style when I ordered. So yes, the latest style do n...

Re: donut wear question

From those pictures of the donut, it's hard to see the holes where the damage would be. From the one picture showing a slight angle of the hole, it 'appears' to be OK. There may be one or more other issues related to the symptoms you initially described. The only adjustments on the shock is the spri...

Re: Rare Wrist Watch URAL\DNEPR

Thanks to Igor26rus & GregAus, I began a google search to learn more. Vostok Amphibian 200m, 42 body, Antimagnetic, 2409 movement (windup only), probably built in the 1980s (I bought it in 1992). Now I learned that they can not send because such watches are considered antiques. Can y...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

Thanks  My goal is to pinpoint when IMW-Ural removed the gusset from replacement swing arms. In one of your earlier post post you wrote; The other thing I learned is that the axle is a total PITA to remove. Got it out and removed the rear wheel. Somehow taking the wheel off and seeing the ...
