Re: Custom Transmission Gearing

My Dnepr is a 1998. I run Mobil 1 20W 50 motor oil in the transmission. The manual says to use engine oil in the transmission, I used to run standard 20W 50 motor oil, but when I switched to synthetic in the engine, I also switched to synthetic in the transmission. I noticed that it shifts much more...

Re: Custom Transmission Gearing

Dnepr gear boxes are already very robust, it would be hard to improve them.

The wheel may not be round, the spokes should be tensioned evenly.

Re: New Owner questions - Cleaning, securing, oils

I had a 1939 Fordson tractor that burned Kerosene, I bought kerosene from a local oil company, they had it in bulk. It was half the cost of kerosene purchased at the hardware store.

Re: New Owner questions - Cleaning, securing, oils

I have had the final drive apart and there is no brass or bronze in it, use regular hypoid gear oil in the final drive.
I haven't had a Dnepr gearbox apart, but I don't think it has any brass or bronze components in it ether.

Re: New Owner questions - Cleaning, securing, oils

All good answers. There is a battery switch under the seat on Dneprs, you could turn that off, it won't start without the battery.

Re: Awesome almost free trunk light

I have about thirty Harbor Freight free LED flashlights scattered around the house. I get one almost every time I go to Harbor Freight.
That light switch light would work for me in a lot of places.

Re: Dew in shop

It sounds like you have to seal and insulate your shop.

A few summers ago I did just that for my shop. it solved the moisture problem. I also installed a Craig's list pellet stove in the shop, for when I am working there in the winter.

Re: My Dnepr Remote Filter Mod

I didn't have a flash on my camera, when I visited the factory. The picture I posted was the only one that turned out, as the inside of the factory was so dimly lit. I used to visit RAMCO once or twice a week after I bought my rig. The people there were very friendly and interesting to talk to and i...
